Days 24 and 25 at Sea

Tuesday and Wednesday 30th and 31st January 2018

Tuesday
Last night we went through gale force winds, 80kph, and high seas 5m+, well we actually slept through it, so we missed it.  Winds  apparently caused by high pressure in the Caribbean creating Catabatik(?) winds through the Mexican Mountains and so the weather in the Trentapeka Bay, where we are, the Captain has been hugging the coast to miss the worst of it.

This morning’s insight lecture by Peter Snow, about the career of the Duke of Wellington and his campaigns through the Iberian Peninsula and on to Waterloo and his ultimate defeat of Napoleon.

Weather really quite good now and so time to get some sun on deck.

Dinner in the main restaurant and afterwards to the theatre for a show by Dale Kristian.  She played Christine in the Phantom of the Opera with Michael Crawford on broadway when it first opened over 30 years ago.  Sadly she was somewhat past her best.

Wednesday
Rather cloudy today.  So we went along to the theatre for a virtual bridge tour by the Captain.  A full house, not sure whether it is the  state of the weather or the fact that Captain Hashmi is such a good and entertaining speaker.  Anyway a very good and informative talk.

Filled the rest of the day as usual, busy doing nothing.  All day sailing along quite near, well on the horizon, the coast of Mexico.

Formal night tonight so off to the main restaurant again, lots of dolphins right alongside the ship just as we sat down, couldn’t really jump up and nip out to watch, so had to be satisfied with a passing view.  Straight on afterwards to the World Cruise Cocktail Party, a proper one this time with a nicely decorated cake and lots of nibbles and bits, could easily have missed dinner to give it justice.

Ice Sculptures, Buffet and Caviar.

The World Cruise Cake (apparently not to be eaten!)

580 World Cruisers on board now, another 31,000 miles to go and 35 ports in 99 days.

Also tonight a special night for the Moon, a super moon, a blue moon and a chance of at least a partial eclipse.  Shame it was cloudy so it didn’t put in an appearance at all.!!

These two Moon Pictures are one on Tuesday and one on Thursday,
so one before and one after the crucial night, Murphy's Law!

Clocks back again tonight
