Day 81 - Xiamen, China

Wednesday 28th March

Perhaps better known to Westerners as Amoy, Xiamen is located in the Chinese province of Fujian.  Xiamen and Quanzhou were Imperial China’s great windows on the world and were seaports where merchants came from far and wide to trade for the wealth of the East.

Another misty/smoggy morning as we approached our berth in Xiamen.

No trip booked for today and decided that we would forego the pleasure of going ashore, mainly through lack of any attractive purpose, so the even greater pleasure of time on the ship when most ashore.  Easily filled the day with our usual pursuits and another lesson in playing Canasta.
Spotted just one dolphin/porpoise alongside the ship just teasing us as it got dark.

Tonight went to the alternative dining for “Smokehouse” dinner.  American style menu, good menu and good food but the slowest possible service!
The whole evening we were entertained by the lights on the buildings around the harbour making pattens and animations, all very colourful and clever.

Another late sailaway.
