Day 22 - Venice, Italy

Saturday 13th October 2018

This is the start of our second cruise.

A pleasure to wake gently, no trip today, just going to use the shuttle boat.

Many passengers leaving the ship today, 50% of our stewards section.

2nd day in Venice. Waited for most of the crowd to depart. Then off to catch the shuttle boat into the St Marks Square.

Very busy around St Marks again today.  Still queues for all the main attractions. So back to Plan A.

A nice gentle walk though the city weaving through to the Rialto Bridge, almost know the way there now.

Crossed the Rialto over the Grand Canal and carried on through the other part of the city back to the ship, never been in this part of town before.

Mostly very similar, a tangle of narrow streets connecting small squares and crossing a maze of canals. All in all a very pleasant walk, not too long, not too many errors in direction.  They say if you’ve not got lost in Venice you’ve never been there!

Nice clear direction signs?

Reaching the Ponte degli Scalzi Bridge over the Grand Canal, just near the station.  The Grand Canal here just as busy as by the Rialto.

Big surprise here, there are trees in a park , a rare thing hereabouts.
Carried on to check out the Constitution Bridge, a new glass floored addition to the bridges of Venice.

Another surprise here, there is actually traffic and buses etc.  Last part of the walk to the ship not so good as it’s alongside roads.

Back on board in time for some afternoon tea.  Then time to relax in the sun.  All the new passengers on board disrupting things, school holidays must have started as the passenger’s average age has plummeted today.

Dinner in the buffet, Italian theme.

Late sailaway, very.
